My passion is music: performing on keyboards and vocals (especially tight harmonies, “rip-yer-heart-out” ballads, and “black” gospel), composing and arranging. I'm a member of the burgeoning vocal trio, 3.12--that’s us in the box up there....
While my graduate work was in seminary (I used to be an ordained pastor within the MCC church), I've had (perhaps predictably) something of a "falling-out" with organized religion, and my vocation has led me to serve as contributing faculty in the music department at Dickinson College, where I teach piano, coach vocalists, and generally upset the status quo. I also direct music for the Unitarian Universalists of the Cumberland Valley, where I find the people much less “Christian”--and much more Christ-like--than in any other church I've served.
My partner, Mark, and I have been together since March of 1995, and share a home with our four feline “kids,” Allegra, Tobias, Sophia, and Stewart.
I’m an INFP, if you put stock in the MBTI (which I kinda do), and generally try to be a nice guy until and unless I feel like I’m being treated with disrespect. Then I can be a bit of a jerk, I’m afraid. :/ |
